Ever wondered what a regular day looks like for a Nepali student in America? Spriha’s got you covered. Spoiler alert: it’s not as aesthetic as Instagram makes it seem.

Here’s her honest, UNFILTERED “day in the life.”

☀️ 7:00 AM – The Snooze Olympics

Alarm goes off. Spriha’s inner dialogue:

“Wake up early, meditate, and cook dal bhat.”

Reality: Hits snooze five times. Rolls out of bed at 7:45 with one sock on.

☕ 8:30 AM – Breakfast (If You Can Call It That)

Plans: A healthy breakfast to start the day.
Actual: Half a bagel and coffee that tastes like stress.

As she walks to class:

“Why is this coffee $6? In Nepal, I could get three plates of momo for that.”

👩‍💻 9:00 AM – Class Time (a.k.a. Pretend You’re Awake)

Sits in her CS lecture, trying to look focused while secretly Googling: “How to survive as a broke international student.”

Also Googles: “Can you die from too much ramen?”

🏃‍♀️ 11:00 AM – Work Shift

Heads to her on-campus job as a student ambassador. Gives a campus tour to a group of high schoolers.

Internally screaming:

“Please don’t ask me where the bathroom is. I still get lost in this building.”

🍔 1:00 PM – Lunch Break (Finally!)

Checks her bank account before deciding what to eat.
Realizes: “Okay, it’s giving meal-prep vibes.”

Lunch: Leftover rice + curry + a prayer it’s still edible.

📚 2:00 PM – Study Session

Plans to finish an assignment early.
Actual: Scrolls Instagram. Sees a friend post from back home in Nepal. Homesickness level: 1000.

🏢 4:00 PM – Club Meeting

Heads to a multicultural club meeting because… why not? Plus, there’s free pizza. (You never say no to free food in America.)

😅 6:00 PM – Grocery Run

Walks into Walmart for “just eggs.” Leaves with:

  • A random scented candle

  • Cereal she doesn’t even like

  • No eggs.

🍜 8:00 PM – Dinner + Zoom Call Home

Calls her parents while eating ramen straight out of the pot.
Mom: “You’re not eating enough vegetables.”
Her: “Mom, ramen is 50% water. That’s hydration.”

💤 11:30 PM – The Existential Crisis Hour

Sits in bed wondering:

“Did I choose the right major? Will I ever stop missing Nepal? Am I the only one eating Nutella with a spoon right now?”

Decides to call it a night and start fresh tomorrow.

🌟 Her Real Talk

“It’s not easy. But every chaotic day makes you stronger, funnier, and a little more American (even if your soul is still in Kathmandu).”

So if your days feel messy and your plans never go perfectly—welcome. You’re doing it right.
